Library hosts genealogy classes

LAKEPORT, Calif. – “Life in the Past Lane” a series of free genealogy classes, will begin meeting at Lakeport Library 1425 N. High St. in October, just in time for Family History Month.

Classes will be held on the first and third Saturdays of each month at 2 p.m. and on the second and fourth Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m.

The classes will kick off with a PowerPoint presentation by Jan Cook on “Beginning Genealogy” on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 5:30 p.m.

The presentation will introduce basic genealogical concepts and research tools.

Cook is a library technician with the Lake County Library and a member of the Lake County Genealogical Society, or LCGS.

The Lake County Library and the LCGS are collaborating to present these free classes which are open to anyone interested in pursuing family history.

Rose Davidson, Anita Crabtree and other members of the LCGS will lead the classes, which will explore an array of genealogy topics through class discussions, slideshows, lessons and online webinars.
