LAKEPORT, Calif. – A craft fair created by seniors is planned for this coming weekend.
The fair takes place on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sterling Shore club house (Club 100) at 5830 Robin Hill Drive in north Lakeport.
As Mary Ann Gregory, a retired catering executive in Sterling Shore Senior Park in North Lakeport surveyed her neighbors she realized that there was an amazing range of skills and interests among them.
Some had been honed by a lifetime career, others as avocations and some as pastimes taken up in retirement.
One created stained glass artifacts, another made quilts, the local poet laureate wrote Western novels, and painters offered water colors.
Another made stylish hand-painted scarves and handmade greeting cards, organic soaps
and unique ornaments were also offered.
It was a great pity, she thought, that there was no outlet for these unique treasures and the idea to run a holiday craft fair grew in her mind.
Her fellow crafters endorsed the idea which grew into the first holiday fair created by seniors in Lake County.
To get to the fair, take exit 108 (Nice-Lucerne Cutoff) off Highway 29 and turn onto Lakeshore Boulevard to Robin Hill Drive on the left and follow the road to the park entrance and down to the club house.
You are sure to find a unique gift for your friends and family.
