LAKEPORT, Calif. – Members of the local chapter of Toastmasters International threw a holiday bash recently, complete with Santa leading a white elephant gift exchange.

The group whooped it up at TNT Restaurant in Lakeport early enough in December for St. Nick to return to the Pole to harness up all those rain deer and hit the road … make that the skies.

Toastmasters is an organization that usually meets once a week, and where individuals take turns giving speeches or short talks.

Goals vary, but center around improving skills and self-confidence. Personal gains can be in themselves rewarding, but can also be useful in business and professional life.

Meetings are also a fun social experience as members seek to help and encourage each other. If all this sounds interesting, more information on the local toastmasters, known as the Tenacious Talkers, can be obtained by contacting Greg, at 707-245-7312 or This email address is being protected from spambots.
