LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Hospice Services of Lake County operates three thrift stores that financially support the special needs of Hospice patients and the organization’s Wings of Hope Bereavement Program for children and families.

The thrift stores are seeking donations such as household items, furniture, clothing, jewelry, shoes and more at store locations in Lakeport, Clearlake and Middletown.

To make donating even more convenient, Hospice Services will be operating mobile donation centers at a variety of locations throughout Lake County from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. every other Saturday.

The mobile drop off schedule includes Feb. 15 at the Mar-Vals Sentry Market, 2265 E. State Hwy. 20, Nice; Feb. 29 at the Live Oaks Senior Center, 12502 Foothill Blvd., Clearlake Oaks; March 14 in Spring Valley; March 28 in Hidden Valley Lake; April 11 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 21396 Highway 175, Cobb; and in the Clearlake Riviera on April 25.

In addition, thrift donations may be made Monday through Saturday at all three stores between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Community members may request a pickup of large items, furniture and multiple donations.

Sales from thrift stores have contributed significantly to the quality of life for Hospice patients and their families when extra costs not reimbursed by regular funding sources have occurred.

Many community members like Katie Mahone, a Kelseyville resident, donate on a regular basis, saving items when they clean closets, garages or change out wardrobes.

“I’ve personally experienced the benefits of Hospice care and know my contributions do make a difference to other families. Donating regularly to Hospice thrift stores is my way of paying it forward,” said Mahoney. “It’s an easy and convenient way to give back.”
