Lake Links to expand medical transportation outside of Lake County

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Lake Links, a local nonprofit transportation agency, has recently expanded its out-of-county medical service in order to better serve Lake County residents.

“Knowing that people had appointments canceled during the COVID-19 response, we knew many would need help getting back on track with their medical care, once the restriction was lifted,” said Executive Director Lisa Davey-Bates.

In response to this need, Lake Links, in partnership with Lake Transit Authority, has expanded and improved its Medi-Links service to medical providers in St. Helena, Napa, Deer Park, Santa Rosa, Ukiah and Willits.

Recently, Lake County Public Health Officer Dr. Gary Pace announced that Gov. Newsom has approved “elective surgeries to resume, after suspending them for several weeks to allow the hospitals to better prepare for a possible surge. Lake County residents are now encouraged to reach out to their medical providers, to begin catching up on more routine medical and surgical Visits.”

Now it’s time to get back on track with your medical care, and Lake Links can assist.

The agency has provided rides for qualified seniors and disabled individuals to medical appointments in the Santa Rosa area since October of 2019.

“This change greatly expands the scope of service of the agency and provides a vital transportation link to the main medical facilities in areas surrounding Lake County to which residents are referred,” said Mobility Manager Karl Parker.

In addition, the previous requirement that trips must be scheduled at least a week in advance has been lifted.

While advance notice will always be very helpful, every effort will be made to accommodate clients’ needs. And when needed, curbside service may be available when clients are unable to get to convenient collection sites established around the county.

The one-way fare is $10 for elderly and disabled people, and $20 for the general public. There will be no additional charge for personal care attendants.

Transportation will be provided via lift-equipped vehicles which can accommodate wheelchairs and electric scooters.
