MENDOCINO NATIONAL FOREST, Calif. – Logging operations are ramping up in several areas of the Mendocino National Forest.
There will be truck traffic signs posted along the haul routes and logging activity signs around the project areas.
The public needs to be extra cautious on forest roads especially around blind corners and narrow segments of road. Logging is occurring on the following projects:
Smokey: 16 miles southwest of Paskenta, 12 loads a day. Route is 22N15 to 22N21 to FH7 to 21N299 to 21N07 back to FH7 and off the forest.
Pine Mountain: 15 miles northwest of Upper Lake, six loads a day. Route is 18N69 to 18N05 to CR 301 south towards Upper Lake and off the forest.
Deer Valley: 7 miles northeast of Upper Lake, four to eight loads a day. Route is 16N01 to CR301 south towards to Upper Lake and off the forest.
M10 Letts: 10 miles southwest of Stonyford, eight loads a day. Route is M10 to 17N02 and off the forest.
The agency’s top priority is to maintain and improve the health, diversity and productivity of the nation’s forest and grasslands to meet the needs of current and future generations.
