LAKEPORT, Calif. – Hospice Services of Lake County is in the unique position of providing specialized bereavement support for children and families who are impacted by the death of a loved one.

Families with children ages 5 years and older are invited to the free, three-day Wings of Hope Bereavement Camp planned for a summer date when the county’s “shelter in place” order is lifted.

Hospice Services of Lake County is encouraging families that may want to attend camp to contact Hospice Services now for registration information and learn more about the Wings of Hope camp.

For more information and to reserve space, contact Kathleen Bradley by calling 707-263-6270, Extension 123, or emailing her at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

Preregistration for the camp is required, and space is limited.

Camp activities are designed for healing in a fun and positive environment with horse and pet therapy, family art projects, and a special activity facilitated by world-renowned percussionist Josh Robinson.

Wings of Hope Bereavement Camps are offered periodically throughout the year and are facilitated by bereavement counselors and trained volunteers.

Camp organizers note that most of us will experience the life-altering experience of losing a loved one: the death of a best friend, a parent, son or daughter. These losses can be even more traumatic to children and youth. These are powerful life-changing events that, if dealt with effectively, can change lives in nurturing and empowering ways.

Hospice Services seeks to have campers registered in advance in preparation for when it is safe to meet in groups. The organization hopes to host the camp this summer.

Hospice Services of Lake County provides the highest quality medical, emotional and spiritual care to help patients and their families navigate their end-of-life journeys.
