LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Lake County Vector Control District recently added treatment of in-ground yellowjacket nests to its services.
“If you have yellowjacket wasps flying in and out of a hole in the ground in your yard, then the district can treat that nest,” said Jamesina Scott, Ph.D., district manager and research director.
Scott said the district can treat only in-ground yellowjacket nests.
The district cannot treat aerial wasp nests, paper wasp nests, or nests that are attached to or inside structures.
“We can treat the in-ground yellowjacket nest if the location is known and marked by the resident, and the nest must be on the resident’s property or in a public area. If it is on someone else’s property, that person must contact the district to request service,” Scott said.
Residents with questions or who would like help with a mosquito problem, including reporting a neglected pool or spa, or have an in-ground yellowjacket nest on their property that they want treated, should contact the Lake County Vector Control District at 707-263-4770 or visit the district’s website.
