The Salvation Army is now providing at least 2,700 meals per day across eight cities to wildfire evacuees in Northern California.
This increase comes as wildfire evacuees from neighboring states, like Oregon, are placed in California hotels.
The nonprofit has crews from all over the region responding not only in their local communities but helping out their neighbors to make sure wildfire evacuees are fed.
The Salvation Army said it is working with the state, counties and other relief organizations like the American Red Cross to serve evacuees who have been placed in hotels due to COVID-19 restrictions that do not allow for large community-style shelters. Currently, they are providing meals to evacuees placed in 45 hotels.
North Complex fire response
The Salvation Army of Oroville and Chico are providing a total of 415 meals per day to wildfire evacuees in six hotels Butte County. In Yuba City, the nonprofit is providing 330 meals per day for evacuees at seven hotels.
August Complex and Red Salmon Complex response
The Salvation Army of Eureka is currently providing 195 meals per day to evacuees staying at eight area hotels.

The Salvation Army of Napa is still providing meals to evacuees placed in four hotels in the city. Our Napa Valley Culinary Training Academy, which provides training for men and women who have overcome homelessness and/or addiction, is preparing 146 meals per day for those evacuees.

Disaster relief agencies are working with California and Oregon to place wildfire evacuees at area hotels here in Northern California.
The Salvation Army of Redding is currently providing 1,200 meals per day to evacuees at eight hotels in Yreka. In Roseville and Sacramento, the nonprofit is providing a total of 468 meals per day to evacuees placed in 12 hotels.
