Lakeport Women’s Civic Club celebrates century of service

LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lakeport Women’s Civic Club celebrated its 100th anniversary on Friday, March 5, in a Zoom meeting with members from all over the country in attendance.

Longtime member Audrey Powers zoomed in from Vero Beach, Florida, and President-elect Helen Finch zoomed in from Big Bend National Park in Texas.

Two members of the club, Sandi Miller and Audrey Powers, were awarded honorary lifetime memberships for the 20 years of service to the club holding numerous offices over the years and investing countless hours behind the scenes.

High school scholarships were discussed as the deadline for turning in applications is coming up on April 1.

If you have or know of a graduating high school student who is interested in a vocational program or certificate program, please have them check in with their high school counselor to receive an application.

Two eligible recipients will receive $1,000 checks to assist them with their studies and/or living expenses.

The Lakeport Women’s Civic Club will be holding raffles on a monthly basis as a means of keeping fundraising and donations as ongoing as possible during these challenging times.

Raffles tickets are one for $5 or five for $20. If you are interested in contributing to this effort by purchasing raffle tickets for fabulous baskets full of local crafts, wines, oils, and gift certificates supporting local businesses, please send your check to LWCC P.O. Box 52, Lakeport, CA 95453.

If you are interested in joining the fun-loving group of ladies who make this happen, President Julie Hernaez would love to hear from you at 707-279-2625
