Opinion
My name is Denise McDowell. As a resident of Middletown since 1967, I believe Helen Owen embodies many qualities that would make an excellent supervisor.
These qualities include her honesty, integrity and willingness to address everyone’s concerns.
She has experience collaborating with others to achieve a common goal and finds innovative ways to solve challenges.
Supporting community events is her lifestyle. She is an independent and successful business woman who has strong family values and has taught hundreds of young people the responsibility and joy of horsemanship.
She has given many of these young people the confidence to take these skills outside the small, close-knit pond that is our town.
Our district would be fortunate to have Helen Owen represent the needs of our communities while supporting the preservation of our small-town values.

Dear South County neighbors:
Please join me in supporting Helen Owen in her candidacy for Lake County supervisor in District 1.
Being a multi-generational lifetime resident of southern Lake County, Helen embraces the stunning beauty, natural resources and the unique challenges of our special community. She appreciates and promotes the precious rural lifestyle that is the pinnacle of our county. Helen is a community leader and team builder. She is not a politician.
Helen knows and practices the critical role of community involvement and decision making. She thrives as a generous and hard-working volunteer in our community; many times I have observed Helen’s hands-on, hard-working participation.
Helen has been and will continue to learn and research issues at the ground level. She will be a true representative of the people and will collect community input at the ground level. Her experience as a business owner, rural property owner, and long- time community organizer is a natural fit for the position of county supervisor.
My family has operated a ranch/farm in south Lake County since the 1880s. In fact, my great-grandfather, John Martin Adamson, was the Lake County District 2 supervisor (at that time, the Lower Lake population center) for 28 years completing his service in the 1920s. Obviously, my family has a stake in a thriving south county community.
I have done my homework and, without reservation, endorse Helen Owen for supervisor for District 1.
