Hill: Team DUI shares powerful message

As part of Lake County Team DUI, I had the honor of helping arrange and attend two DUI presentations at Upper Lake Middle School this year.

I was moved by the presentations with emphasis on the speakers who told their very touching and powerful accounts of how driving under the influence has affected their lives.

Many in the audience were moved to tears by these presentations and I am sure they will take what they learned and apply it to future choices when it comes to driving under the influence.

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Team DUI as a whole, CHP Officer Kory Reynolds, Lakeport Police Department Officer Stephanie Green, Lake County Office Of Education AmeriCorps Rob Young, speakers Judy Thein, Kathy Testa, Judge Richard Freeborn and Upper Lake Middle School for welcoming this powerful program into their school to touch the lives of their middle school students.

Missy Hill is with the Lake County Office of Education's Healthy Start program, headquartered in Lakeport, Calif.
