Freeman Haas, 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 8, 2012, at his Lower Lake, Calif., home of brain cancer.

Freeman was born in Hanna, Okla., on Sept. 17, 1921. Freeman and his family moved to Southern California when freeman was a youngster.

Freeman had four children, Woody and Carl with his first wife, and Koni and Gregory (Randy) with his wife Rubye of 64 years.

Freeman was a simple man with a great sense of humor. He thought that any and everything could be fixed with bailing wire, but was a very wise business man.

Freeman owned his own crane business in the Bay Area for many years.

In 1950 he became a Mason; he played an instrumental role in starting the Eastern Star chapter in the Bay Area. For years he was heavily involved in the Masons, Eastern Star and Shriners.

Freeman had a strong love for horses. In the 1970s he started up the Bay Area Pinto Horseman’s association where he showed and placed many prized horses.

Freeman was preceded in death by his son, Woody Haas; wife, Rubye Haas; and daughter Koni Frew.

Freeman is survived by his two sons, Gregory (Randy) Haas of Lower Lake and Carl Haas of Southern California; his grandson, Mike Haas and his wife Barbara of Kelseyville; grandsons, Freeman and Phillip Haas of Southern California; granddaughters, Regina, Dee Dee and Moriah of the Bay Area; grandchildren, Kasey, John, Krystal and Jennifer of Lower Lake; great-grandson, Zachary of Kelseyville; and other grandchildren and great-grandchildren in other states.

Freeman will be dearly missed.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Masonic Lodge, 6890 South Center Drive Clearlake, Calif. An hour of visitation will occur beforehand at 10 a.m.
