
LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — Carol Elizabeth Powers passed away on Dec. 11, 2024, after a second battle with cancer.
Carol was born on Dec. 17,1948, in Athens, Ohio, the second oldest of five sisters: Nancy, Martha, Ann and Mary.
After moving to Saratoga, California, and while attending West Valley College, she met Michael Powers. Carol married Michael in 1968 and moved to Lake County in 1969 where they were married for 56 years.
Carol is survived by her husband, Michael; two of her three sons, Todd and his wife, Carla, and Brian; and two grandsons, AJ and Tannen.
Carol fought the odds in 1988 by being a brain cancer survivor. Her third son, Mark, passed away in 2018, who was born with a developmental disability, but still she spent many years being an advocate and volunteer with the Special Olympics.
She also worked for Konocti Unified School District as a school bus driver, Lake County Title Co., Lake County Recorder’s Office and later the Lake County elections office.
Graveside funeral services will be held at Kelseyville Cemetery on Tuesday, Dec. 31, at 11 a.m.
