Vincent Paul Dorsett

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA — Vincent Paul Dorsett (Pete, Peter), fifth-generation Lake Countian, was born at Lakeside Community Hospital in Lakeport during its first year of operation.
He is predeceased by father, Royal Dorsett; mother Jane Keeling (Dorsett) Barnes; and stepfather, Victor D. Barnes.
He is survived by siblings, Wilda Shock, Lakeport; Susie LaPointe, Sacramento; Ken Barnes, Paradise; and other family members.
A resident of Sacramento for over 40 years, Pete died peacefully after an extended illness partially due to Agent Orange exposure and two helicopter crashes during military service.
Lt. Dorsett served in the U.S. Army, 1st Cavalry Division in Vietnam, and in the California National Guard during the Gulf War /Operation Desert Storm.
Dorsett was a 1963 graduate of Upper Lake Union High School and a 1967 graduate of then-Sacramento State College with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, where he was editor of The State Hornet student newspaper and a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.
He was a member of Hartley Masonic Lodge #199 in Lakeport for 58 years and active with Veterans organizations.
Internment service with military honors was conducted on Nov. 17 at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon.
