Shirley Jane Malone

May 11, 1930 – Oct. 27, 2025

Shirley Jane Malone, 95, former longtime resident of Lake County, California, passed away peacefully on Oct. 27, 2025, in Los Angeles, California.

Born in Salmon, Idaho to Alta Moore and Maxwell Dudley, Shirley lived a rich and creative life spanning nearly a century.

Shirley graduated from Billings Senior High School in Billings, Montana in 1947. After high school she traveled to New York City and attended the Barbizon Modeling School. Returning to Montana she married Jack Malone, her husband and devoted partner until Jack’s passing in 1985.

Jack and Shirley first made their home in Southern California, where Shirley discovered her passion for ceramics while living in Camarillo, California and studying at Santa Barbara City College. She loved making pots and became an accomplished potter, a craft she practiced with dedication throughout her life.

In 1978, the couple moved to Kelseyville, California, where Shirley would spend the next 40 years. Shirley and Jack built a kiln to fire her pottery, which she sold at craft fairs, local shops and galleries in Mendocino, California.

Shirley studied the craft of winemaking, growing her own grapes and earning prizes for her amateur wines at the state fair. She shared her vivacity and knowledge working in Kelseyville tasting rooms, first at Konocti Winery and then at Wildhurst Vineyards.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Terry Malone and son, Brad (Melanie) Malone; her sister, Barbara Parrott; her grandchildren, Sahaja Malone-Aram (Scott Saikley), Scott (Victoria) Malone, Kevin (Shelby) Malone and Sean (Rachel) Malone; and her great-grandchildren, Remi Malone, Cash Malone, Tate Malone, Elouise Saikley, Kannon Giles, Benelli Malone and Jack Malone.

Burial arrangements will be announced at a later date.
