Scott James Gleed, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away on Dec. 1, 2025.

He was born on March 18, 1963, in Lakeport, California to Richard and Barbara Gleed and grew up in Lake County alongside his big brother, Steve, and his little sister, Renee.

Scott attended Burns Valley Elementary School, Lower Lake Junior High, and Lower Lake High School. A gifted and dedicated athlete, he played football, basketball, and baseball throughout all four years of high school, lettering in all three sports before graduating in 1981.

After high school, Scott attended Yuba College in Marysville, where he tried his hand at boxing and won his first match, an achievement that made his father proud. His interest in mechanics led him to MIT in Colorado in 1982 for diesel mechanics, followed by UTI in Phoenix, Arizona, where he studied from 1983 to 1985.

Scott began his professional career with Berglund Caterpillar in Napa from 1985 to 1987. In 1987, he joined Coca-Cola in Vallejo and transferred to the Chico location in 1988. He continued working for Coca-Cola until 2007, when he began a long and dedicated career with PG&E, where he remained until his passing in 2025.

Scott met Suzanne in Lake County in 1988 where they both grew up. After she moved to Chico in 1991, their friendship continued to grow and they fell in love. The couple married on May 17, 1997, and built a loving life together sharing a bond and understanding of home.

They welcomed their son, Hunter, in July 1999, followed by their daughter, Kylee, in July 2002. Scott’s family was his greatest pride. Scott was a dedicated and hard working father and husband. His work ethic to provide for his family was like no other. He was extremely proud of the remarkable adults his children have become, and he carried that pride with him always.

An avid outdoorsman, Scott found joy in hunting, fishing, and golf-passions that often took him out of state and remained a constant thread throughout his life. These experiences brought him a strong connection with the world and people around him. Kylee has recently taken interest in golf and hunting like her father. Hunter continues to exhibit the mechanical skills and hands-on resourcefulness Scott instilled in him from a young age.

This past summer, Scott and Suzanne treasured weekends spent in their fifth-wheel trailer at Lake Almanor, where Scott enjoyed time with friends, both on the golf course and on the water, fishing.

Scott is survived by his loving wife, Suzanne; his children, Hunter and Kylee; his mother, Barbara Gleed; his brother, Steve Gleed, and Steve’s daughters, Brittany and Ashley; and his sister, Renee Brodnik, her husband, Joey, and their son, Trae. He is preceded in death by his father, Richard Gleed.

To those who knew him, Scott was a “Gentle Giant,” soft spoken, steady and kind, with a fierce and quiet devotion to the people he loved. His absence leaves a profound emptiness in the hearts of his family and all who were blessed to know him. Our lives will never be the same without his love, strength, and gentle presence.

A celebration of Scott’s life will be held in March 2026. More details will be shared as the date approaches.
