James L. Merriman
1934 - 2026
LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — James L. Merriman of Kelseyville, California passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at the age of 91.
James was also known as Jim, Jimbo or Uncle Jim by those close to him.
He served in the U. S. Coast Guard active duty from 1953 to 1957 and in the reserves until 1961. He was an active member of the American Legion Tredway Post 194 and the Kelseyville Lions Club after his retirement from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers union in 1990. He was a beloved member of his community and will be sorely missed by many.
He is survived by his sons, Rick Merriman (and his son, Keith), Ron Merriman (and his wife, Ginger); siblings, Wallace Merriman and Debbie Sperling; many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Beverly Merriman; parents, John Merriman and Venice Newman Merriman; and siblings, Mary Jo Bishop, Joyce Freitas and Bill Merriman.
A celebration of life will be held in his honor at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 10, at the Kelseyville American Legion Hall, located at 5005 Second St. in Kelseyville. A light meal of meats and cheeses will be provided. Please feel free to bring your favorite side dish or dessert.
