KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – Hipolito P. Perez, known to some as “Paul” or “Pauly,” passed away on July 13, 2018, at the age of 64.

He was born in La Jabonera, Zacatecas and was one of eight children of Jose Perez and Nolberta Perez.

In his early years he developed a great love for horses and became a well respected coleador (traditional rodeo cowboy), who was recognized as one of the best in the region.

In 1979, Hipolito married the love of his life, Celia Villalobos, at Saint Peters Church in Kelseyville. Throughout their 39-year marriage, Hipolito and Celia had five beautiful children.

Hipolito worked as the superintendent at Buckingham Golf and Country Club for nearly 30 years and it was there that he developed his love for the game of golf. Whether you came across him while he was working, playing or spectating; his passion for the game was obvious and he never passed up an opportunity to share his advice.

His genuine love to help others led Hipolito to join the Kelseyville Lions Club in 1981, where he remained an active member up until his passing. Whether you needed a helping hand or a tool to borrow, Hipolito never hesitated to answer the call. He was loved by many and was a well respected man throughout his community.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Celia; daughter, Maria and her husband Angel with their children Valeria and Cielo; son, Jose and his wife Leah; son, Hipolito Jr.; son, Victor; and daughter, Alma. He also leaves his sister, Petra Gonzales and brother, Aristeo Perez, and many extended family members.

Last but not least, Hipolito leaves behind many members of the Kelseyville community whom he loved dearly.

For those who would like to attend, visitation will be held at Chapel of the Lakes Mortuary in Lakeport on Thursday, July 19, from 4 to 7 p.m. with a Rosary service starting at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter’s Church in Kelseyville on Friday, July 20, at 11 a.m. with interment at Kelseyville Cemetery.
