LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – It is with a deep and heavy sadness that we announce the death of Mike McCabe who passed on Sept. 25, 2017, at the age of 58.

Mike was born in Lakeport in 1959. He attended Upper Lake Elementary school, Upper Lake Middle School and graduated from Upper Lake High School. Mike has lived in Upper Lake all of his life.

He spent the majority of his time on his ranch in Upper Lake, where he raised his three children. When he did leave the ranch he enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing horseshoes. Mike was a wonderful father, papa, a hard worker and loyal friend.

He is survived by his friend, Cynthia; mother, Vonna; children, Beau, Corina (Nick) and Trever (Ali); grandchildren, Christopher, Atlantis, Kaylie, Savannha, Dominick, Lilah, Gabriella and Lucas; sisters, Celeste, Caprice (Gary) Cottle and Kathy (Rodney) Williams. He is predeceased by his wife, Julie McCabe and his father, Jack McCabe.

He was truly a remarkable man who was so deeply loved and will be missed. We will be having a celebration of life on Nov. 11 at the Bachelor Valley Grange, 9355 Government St. in Upper Lake from 2 to 5 p.m.

If anyone has any pictures they would like to share of Mike please bring them along. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Upper Lake 4-H or FFA it would be much appreciated.

Marion L. Gunderson

Marion L. “Gundy” Gunderson of Greeley, Colo., and longtime resident of Lakeport, Calif., and Sidney, Nebraska, passed away Aug. 30, 2017, at home.

Born April 29, 1936 to Olaf and Eula Gunderson, he was raised in Dix, Nebraska, and earned his bachelor’s degree in education at Kearney State College.

He was a teacher for some time and served 30 years as a Chief Warrant Officer in the National Guard at Sidney, where he retired.

While in the National Guard, he enjoyed working with the people in his unit. He was eager to serve the community by coordinating the use of the building for receptions and community events as well as readying the equipment and relaying the call to his unit to aid in blizzards.

After retiring to Lakeport, CA in 1999, “Gundy" became a member of the Military Funeral Honors Team helping to perform at many veterans’ memorials throughout Lake County.

As a Christian, he found community at United Christian Parish where he was an active member of the Friday morning men’s breakfast and Bible study.

Marion “Gundy" is survived by his wife, Virginia “ Ginny" Gunderson, to whom he was devoted to during their 33-year marriage. He was proud of and dedicated to his family including two sons, Bryan and David; daughter, Cindi Moulton; and stepchildren, Kit Eischen, Karen Eischen and Steve Eischen; grandchildren; and sister, Audrey Solo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Lois Gunderson; sister, Elaine Moulton; and son-in-law, Dennis Perry.

Military graveside memorial services were held at Hartley Cemetery Oct. 13.

Feb. 5, 1939 - Oct. 7, 2017

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – George L. Adams passed away on Oct. 7, 2017, at the age of 78.

He is survived by his loving wife, Andrea; his stepdaughter, Sarah; son-in-law, Wesley Ware; and his step-son, Jesse Ellsworth.

George was a general contractor in Lake County for many years. He helped make many people's dreams come true by building beautiful custom homes for them.

George loved salmon fishing, and spent most summers at the ocean on his boat "Gypsy Lady."

He will be missed by all who knew him.

No services will be held per George's request.
