Verdon L. Strong of Clarksville, Tenn., passed away on Oct. 5, 2014, after a brief illness.
Verdon was born in Oklahoma on Jan. 17, 1934, to Earl and Bessie Lee Strong.
He was a graduate of Kelseyville High School.
Verdon served as the assessor of Lake County, Calif., from 1971 until his retirement in 1990. He was a
well respected member of the community.
Verdon leaves his loving wife of 34 years, Carol; sons, Douglas (Cindy), Duane (Kathy) and David Strong; daughter, Verisa (Arther) Reynolds; stepsons, Michael and Greg (Cecelia) Manning; daughters-in-law Mary Beth and Cheryle Strong; as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Verdon will be interred at the Northern California Veteran's Cemetery.
He will be deeply missed.

Leslie Earl Givens
Sept. 10, 1935 – Oct. 6, 2014
LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Just four weeks shy of losing his wife of 57 years, Les went home to be with her.
He was preceded in death by his son, Randy, and daughter, Shirley Hughes.
He is survived by his daughter, Trish; four grandchildren, Nicole and Jacob Givens, Amber Hughes and Kristen King; sister-in-law, Carolyn Johnson; nieces, Sandi Ford and Jolynn Johnson; and great-nephew, Kaleb Daw.
Les served our country as a Marine in the 1950s then went on to retire from the Federal Reserve Bank in San Francisco.
He later moved to Lake County, where he enjoyed playing his guitar, tending to his garden or just taking a ride.
He was a good man and will be missed by all.
The family will be having a celebration of life barbecue but the date is unknown as of yet.

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – A mass for Carlos Adan Lopez Merino, who passed away Oct. 14, 2014, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 20, at St. Peters Catholic Church in Kelseyville.
Visitation will be held at Chapel of the Lakes Mortuary, 1625 N. High St., Lakeport, on Sunday, Oct. 19 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the rosary at noon.
