Eva Mae Marie Scott, 59, of Kelseyville, Calif., passed away peacefully early on the morning of Aug. 13, 2012, in her home after a long battle with breast cancer.

She was born Dec. 30, 1952 in Grants Pass, Ore., the daughter of the late Charles and Lucette Brenton. She was one of five siblings.

On Feb. 12, 1978, she married John R (Randy) Scott and moved to Kelseyville to help build the family mobile home park, Kelsey Creek Mobile Home Park.

Eva then fulfilled her life dream of becoming a school teacher and taught at the same school, Mountain Vista Middle School, for nine years.

She was the girls B team volleyball coach, girls basketball assistant coach and she also took approximately 40 students to Washington, DC to learn about our country’s history.

Her daughter Leighanne competed in horse shows from age 5 into adulthood; Eva loved to be there for every show.

She loved to quilt and incorporated some type of quilting with several of her class lessons through the years. The students always wanted more. She was proud to introduce this craft to her students.

She is survived by husband, John R (Randy) Scott of Kelseyville; her daughter and grandson, Leighanne and Wyatt Blackburn of Wausau, WI; her sister and husband, Nancy Brenton and Geof Knight of Rancho Cordova, Calif.; and her brother, Robert (Bob) Brenton of Kellogg, Iowa.

She also is survived by her in-laws, Joe and Emily Scott of Rio Rancho, NM; brother-in-law Rob Scott of Rio Rancho, NM; and brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Christine Scott of Shingle Springs, Calif.; several nieces and nephews, Zachary and Sandra Shaver of Indiana, PA; Anastacia Shaver of Rancho Cordova, Calif., and fiance, Amrish Amine of Santa Clara, Calif.; Todd and Julie Brenton of Vancouver, Wash.; Christopher Brenton of Vancouver, Wash.; and Rachele and Tim Elliot of Newton, Iowa; Jennifer, Catelyn, Holley and Emily Scott of Shingle Springs, Calif.; also great nieces and nephews, Nichole, Matthew and Brandon Shaver of Indiana, PA and Hunter Elliot of Newton, Iowa.

The family prefers donations be sent to Surviving Sponsorship of Lake County, www.sponsoringsurvivorship.com/ . This great organization supports Lake County women going through breast cancer treatment. This group of wonderful people were Eva’s angels during her long battle.

Eva’s last quilt is “Pink Light of Sunrise,” which is being raffled with all proceeds going to this organization. As expected, Eva always wanted to give to others.

A memorial for Eva by all that knew her as a teacher and coach for Mountain Vista Middle School is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012. It will be held in the amphitheater as long as it’s not too hot.

Surviving Sponsorship of Lake County will be attending with Eva’s quilt-raffle tickets and donations can be given also.

Cremation arrangements by Chapel of the Lakes Mortuary, Lakeport.
