LAKEPORT, Calif. – On Aug. 26, 2020, the Lord called home one of his own, Pastor David Henry Giron, passed away at his home in Lakeport surrounded by his loving family.

David has won the battle and now has a perfect body without pain, made possible by God, for whom he had much love and devotion.

David had many great qualities in life, most notable is his love for God. He adored quoting the Word of God any time a conversation would allow and was an enthusiastic conversationalist to boot.

He was a lay pastor for First Lutheran Church in Lucerne and taught bible classes in his spare time.

He was a champion chess player and fluent in Greek/Hebrew.

David loved people and was devoted to helping them however he could, either with the Word of God or just being by being there for anyone in need.

His family recalls his devotion to them as well, he was a great provider, a loving husband and father.

He was also an enthusiastic and passionate chess player who was a praiseworthy adversary.

He leaves behind his loving wife and best friend of 27 years, Kim P. Giron, and many close family members: son, Derek (Crystal) Eairheart and step-daughter, Sabrina Johnson; his siblings, sister, Darlene C. Brown (or as he liked to call her, Cynthia) and brothers, Daniel and Don; three grandsons, Courage, Zach and Steven; and two granddaughters, Harmony and Bryanna. His nephew and two nieces, Jonathan, April and Lindsay, and his parish family will always remember his words of wisdom and his great love of God along with being a great spiritual leader as well.

David’s memorial service was rendered on Aug. 31, at Jones Mortuary in Lakeport and a memorial Mass on Sept. 4 at First Lutheran Church in Lucerne.

He was laid to rest on Sept. 4 at Hartley Cemetery in Lakeport, with presiding minister, Pastor Chris DelCol, and musicians, Pastor Chris DelCol and Gloria Scott.

In David’s Voice
“PSALM 19:
13…Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then I will be blameless, innocent of great transgression.
14…May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and Redeemer.”

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – David "Bud" Allan Perry was born on March 2, 1925, to David A. Perry and Marie Ellen Brotherton-Perry in Duluth, Minnesota.

He passed peacefully at home on Aug. 26, 2020, with his family at his bedside.

At 17 years young, he joined the U.S. Navy and was a seaman on the destroyer U.S.S. Mullany for the duration of World War II. The ship took a direct hit from a Japanese Kamikaze airplane which eventually caused the captain to order an abandon ship. Hours later the ship was still afloat so it was boarded by “Bud” and a skeleton crew. They managed to get one boiler functioning and limped into a safe harbor.

David owned a small lumber company in Pacifica, California, retiring in 1999 and moved to Lake County to be near his daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. He recently said he had done and seen everything he ever wanted in his 95 years.

David was predeceased by his mother, father, brother and two sisters.

He is survived by his son, David Perry Jr., of Costa Rica; daughter, Ellen Perry-Noble and son-in-law, John Noble of Upper Lake (whom he also considered a son); son, Timothy Perry of Montara, California, and daughter, Jaquelyn Perry of Portland, Oregon; granddaughter, Tanya Noble of Upper Lake; grandsons, Tim and Colby Noble of Upper Lake, David "Joe" Perry of Costa Rica, and Nicholas Perry of Nice. He also leaves behind numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

David was one of the last to be considered of "The Greatest Generation" and he fit that to a tee. He was kind, considerate and had a scalpel-sharp wit. He was a hero to his entire family.

"So long Pa.”
