Taste of Lakeport takes place Friday

LAKEPORT – The 12th annual Taste of Lakeport will be held in downtown Lakeport this Friday, Aug. 21.


The event takes place from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and features food, wine tasting, live music and dancing.


Businesses in downtown Lakeport will stay open late for the event, which also features hors d’oeuvres at the many tasting stations, as well as live music and dancing.


Purchase of a tasting ticket includes a commemorative wine glass and a chance to win raffle prizes donated by the local businesses, music begins at 8 p.m. in Museum Park on Main Street.


Taste of Lakeport is presented by the Lakeport Main Street Association, a benefit for the revitalization of downtown Lakeport.

Sons of Italy, Tulip Hill host wine tasting event Aug. 23

NICE – Come and enjoy a wine and Italian hors d'oeuvres tasting event hosted by Sons of Italy and Tulip Hill Winery, on Sunday, Aug. 23.


The event will be held at the Sons of Italy Club Hall, 2817 E. Highway 20, Nice.


Come taste Tulip Hill wines while enjoying an Italian finger food buffet and live music by Zimmerman from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.


The bar will be open for socializing from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.


All tickets cost $15 at the door.

The meeting, which begins at 6 p.m., will be held at Riviera Hills Restaurant, 10200 Fairway Drive, Kelseyville.

Middletown Luncheon Club plans program on reemerging wine industry

LAKE COUNTY – “How far we’ve come in 10 years: An update on the reemerging Lake County wine industry” is the exciting and informative program at the next Middletown Luncheon Club meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 19, at noon.


Updates will be given by Lake County Winery Association’s executive director, Monica Rosenthal, the Lake County Winegrape Commission and by Margaret Walker-Stimmel of the Lake County Wine Alliance.


The Middletown Luncheon Club meets at noon at the social hall of the Middletown Methodist Church, 15833 Armstrong at Washington, Middletown.


Lunch is only $5 per person.


Lunch this month will be prepared by Catholic Charities’ Rural Food Cupboard. All programs are open to the general public.


Reservations are requested this month but are not absolutely necessary. Call 707-928-9812 to reserve.


If you don’t know about the Middletown Luncheon Club (MLC), here is the perfect opportunity to tap into the 108 year continuum of community and fun.


MLC meets every third Wednesday of the month from January through November. A nonprofit organization is selected to provide lunch, and there is a different program each time to keep things lively and informative.
