MIDDLETOWN – The Middletown Area Town Hall (MATH) will hold its next meeting on Thursday, July 9.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at Loconoma High School located on Washington Street.
Under unfinished business, the group will consider the Economic Development Committee’s farmers market proposal and the Road and Sidewalk Committee priorities.
In new business, District 1 Supervisor Jim Comstock will make his report to MATH.
The group will meet next on Aug. 13.
MATH meetings are subject to videotaping. Meeting proceedings may be available for viewing on public access television and/or the Internet.
MATH – established by resolution of the Lake County Board of Supervisors on Dec. 12, 2006 – is a municipal advisory council serving the residents of Anderson Springs, Cobb, Coyote Valley (includes Hidden Valley Lake), Long Valley and Middletown.

NORTHSHORE – The new Northshore Lions Club is inviting area residents to become charter members.
The club values interest and desire to give back to the community, and is soliciting residents' knowledge of the community concerns that a service organization like the Northshore Lions Club could address.
To share these concerns and to learn more about the Lions International Organization, come to the group's orientation meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, at Lucerne Community Church, 5870 Highway 20.
For those who already have decided to join, please bring the $30 charter fee made out to Lions International.
Those lacking knowledge to make an informed decision, prior to committing, will find the meeting staffed with officers of the organization able to answer all of your questions.
The Lions are very exited about the renewed spirit of optimism and the many new businesses along the Northshore of Clear Lake.
Along with this, comes many new community members who are not so fortunate.
There are children and adults with health and vision problems not currently being solved by existing organizations or government programs.
Lions International’s Motto of “We Serve” those less fortunate is a realistic mission statement in today's economy and environmental arena.

Caltrans will suspend work on Northern California highways Friday, July 3, in observance of the Independence Day weekend. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, it may be necessary for Caltrans Maintenance forces to respond to emergency situations.
LAKE COUNTY
Highway 20
– A highway widening project from Government Street to Rancheria Road will continue. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate
20-minute delays. Contractor – Argonaut Constructors of Santa Rosa.
– Caltrans will perform routine maintenance from Hillside Lane to Keys Boulevard beginning Tuesday, July 7. Work hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate 10-minute delays.
– A roadway realignment project from 1.4 miles east of the North Fork Cache Creek Bridge to 1.6 miles west of Walker Ridge Road will continue. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays. Contractor – Argonaut Constructors of Santa Rosa.
Highway 29
– Caltrans will perform routine maintenance from 0.5 mile south of the junction of Route 29/281 to the junction of Route 29/281 on Monday, July 6. Work hours are 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate 10-minute delays.
– Bridge deck repairs at Kelseyville Creek Bridge will continue. Work hours are 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., Sunday evening through Tuesday morning. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should
anticipate 15-minute delays. Contractor – DeBruin Construction Inc. of Stockton.
Highway 175
– Caltrans will continue routine maintenance from the junction of Route 29/175 near Kelseyville to Kelsey Creek. Work hours are 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate 10-minute delays.
MENDOCINO COUNTY
Highway 1 – PG&E of Eureka has been granted a Caltrans Encroachment Permit for utility maintenance from 0.5 mile south of Ocean View Drive to 0.2 mile south of Haven Neck Drive beginning Monday, July 6. Work hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., weekdays. Intermittent one-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays.
– The city of Point Arena has been issued a Caltrans Encroachment permit to hold the annual Independence Day Parade between Curley Lane and Main Street in Point Arena on Saturday, July 4. A road closure will be in effect from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Motorists are advised to use an alternate route.
– Construction of a retaining wall about three miles north of Elk will continue. One-way traffic control with a temporary signal will be in effect 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Motorists should
anticipate 10-minute delays. Contractor – Granite Construction of Ukiah.
– The City of Fort Bragg has been granted a Caltrans Encroachment Permit to hold the July 4 fireworks from North Harbor Drive to Hazel Street on Friday, July 3, from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Turns onto Ocean View Drive will be restricted. Motorists may experience minor traffic slowdowns.
– Storm damage repair about nine miles north of Hardy Creek Bridge will continue. Work hours are 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate 10-minute delays. Contractor – Maggiora and Ghilotti Inc. of San Rafael.
Highway 20
– A highway widening project from Trailer Cove Road to 0.1 mile east of Gravel Pitt Road will continue. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate 10-minute delays. Contractor – Argonaut Constructors of Santa Rosa.
– A paving project from 0.8 mile to 1.1 mile east of Three Chop Road will continue. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate
10-minute delays. Contractor – MCS Construction Inc. of Willits.
– Bridge deck repairs at the Redwood Valley Undercrossing will continue through Friday, July 3. Work hours are 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., Sunday evening through Friday morning. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate 15-minute delays. Contractor – DeBruin Construction Inc. of Stockton.
Highway 101
– Storm damage repair from 0.6 mile to 0.8 mile north of Comminsky Station Road will continue. Northbound traffic will be restricted to one lane 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Motorists may
experience minor traffic slowdowns. Contractor – Mendocino Construction Services of Willits.
– Bridge deck repairs at the Hopland Overhead Bridge will continue through Friday, July 3. Work hours are 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., Sunday evening through Friday morning. One-way traffic control will be in effect.
Motorists should anticipate 15-minute delays. Contractor – DeBruin Construction Inc. of Stockton.
– A pavement repair project from the West Road Overcrossing to Moore Avenue will continue. Southbound traffic will be restricted to one lane 24 hours per day, from midnight Sunday to 3 p.m. Friday. Motorists may experience minor traffic slowdowns. Contractor – Professional Concrete Services of Pleasant Hill.
– Roadway repair due to pavement deterioration and a slipout from 1.1 miles north of Reeves Canyon Road to Ridgewood Ranch Road will continue. Traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction of
travel 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Motorists may experience minor traffic slowdowns. Contractor – North Bay Construction of Petaluma.
– The city of Willits has been granted a Caltrans Encroachment Permit to hold the Frontier Days Parade between Franklin Avenue and Commercial Street on Saturday, July 4, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A
full road closure will be in effect. A detour will be provided.
– A pavement repair project from Big Trails Drive to the Long Valley Creek Bridge will continue. Work hours are 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., weekdays. Traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction of travel. Motorists may experience minor traffic slowdowns. Contractor – Windsor Fuel Co. of Pittsburg.
Highway 128
– A culvert replacement project 0.2 mile east of the Shearing Creek Bridge will begin Monday, July 6. Work hours are 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists
should anticipate 10-minute delays. Contractor – Coast Construction Inc. of San Rafael.

The display will take place at approximately 9:25 p.m. on Saturday, July 4.
Due to lack of entries, the Lighted Boat Parade scheduled for July 4th off Library Park has been canceled.
The street fair sponsored by the Lakeport Main Street Association opens at 10 a.m. on July 4. There also is also the cardboard and duct tape boat race at Library Park at 11 a.m. There will be lots of fun for everyone.
Lakeport Regional Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive Officer Melissa Fulton said the chamber hasn't yet raised the full amount needed for the fireworks display, but the Fireworks Committee – olice Chief Kevin Burke, Mayor Ron Bertsch, Leslie Firth, Ross Kauper, Sinda Knight, Barbara Breunig and Fulton – is confident everyone will chip in what they can to help pay for the 2009 display.
To date, $10,084 has been raised.
Donations can be made at various merchants around the north end of the lake; the chamber will collect them through next week.
Fulton extended the committee's thanks to all who have donated to date.
