MIDDLETOWN, Calif. — The Lake County Public Services Department announced that the Middletown Pool will open June 8.
The hours of operation will be noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.
The pool fees are as follows:
• Children under 12 years old: $1.25. • 13 years and older: $2. • Individual season passes: $42. • Family season passes (up to five individuals): $84.
The pool is located at 20962 Big Canyon Road.

Community members enjoying the Kiwanis Club of Lakeport’s pancake breakfast. Courtesy photo. LAKEPORT, Calif. — The annual pancake breakfast to support the 4-H clubs of Lake County sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Lakeport will be held on Saturday, May 25.
Kiwanis Club members, their friends and family will serve a delicious breakfast from 7 until 11 a.m. at the Silveira Community Center.
The Community Center (formerly the Bank of America) is located at 500 N. Main St. in Lakeport.
The menu includes all you can eat pancakes, ham or sausage, scrambled eggs, milk, juice and coffee, all for only $10.
Children age 5 years and younger may eat for free.
Tickets may be purchased in advance from members of the Kiwanis Club of Lakeport or members of any 4-H Club. Tickets will also be sold at the breakfast.
All profits from the breakfast are distributed to the 4-H clubs around the county.
“For approximately 40 years, this Memorial Day weekend event has been the perfect kickoff to summer,” said Kiwanis Club of Lakeport President Nancy Hendricks. “It’s an opportunity to enjoy a delicious breakfast, visit with friends and neighbors while supporting a valuable program for the youth of Lake County.”
The breakfast is followed by the annual Lakeport Memorial Day Parade traveling down Main Street.
LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — Frustrated by the lack of similar services and sensitive to the needs of clients who came to the organization seeking assistance, Habitat for Humanity Lake County initiated the Brush of Kindness Critical Home Repair Program in 2011.
The program is designed to address the health and safety repair needs of Lake County low-income households, particularly military veterans and seniors in order to keep their homes safe and affordable.
To date, the organization has assisted nearly 400 qualified households throughout Lake County.
Available repairs range from the replacement of broken windows, installation of heating and cooling systems, electrical work and plumbing repair to flooring, handicap accessibility modifications, installation of wheelchair ramps and lifts, deck and step repair and more.
Services are available to any resident who meets the income and application qualifications of the program.

Remember, safety first: While having a blast, to avoid running around the pad.
Also, don’t forget to wear slip-proof footwear to prevent any slips and slides.

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — The inaugural Memorial Veterans Run will take place on Saturday, May 18.
Registration will take place from 7:30 to 9 a.m., at the Joy Medeiros Veterans Museum, located at 857 11th St., in Lakeport. The run begins at 9:15 a.m.
After the run, the group will meet at 11 a.m. at Konocti Vista Casino to honor veterans, present patriot awards, hold a raffle and have lunch.
Requested donations at $25 per person or $35 for couples, with lunch included.
