KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – It's time to mark your calendar and purchase your tickets for the delicious made-to-order omelets that the Clear Lake State Park Interpretive Association offers at the annual Wildflower Brunch.

The event is planned for Saturday, April 30, with brunch being served from 9 a.m. to noon.

There will be 12 different fillings to choose for your cooked-to-order omelet, plus an enticing selection of pastries and an array of fresh fruits along with orange juice and coffee.

There will be about seven stoves going to cook the omelets and several 'celebrity chefs' to man the stoves.

There is talk that there might be some heated competition among some of the “chefs” to see who might make the best-tasting and best-looking omelets.

Congressman Mike and Jan Thompson and Brad Onorato are going to be part of the chef line-up.

At 11 a.m. Lake County Vector Control Biologist Bonnie Ryan will give a talk in the visitor center on many of the water and airborne creatures that call Clear Lake their home.

David Neft will again be entertaining with his amazing selection of piano tunes during the brunch. He welcomes requests and never disappoints.

Plan on coming out to Clear Lake State Park on Saturday, April 30, to enjoy the beautiful surroundings while savoring a plump omelet and decadent pastry along with fruit, orange juice and coffee.

The visitor center will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. that day with lots of new things to see and buy. Reservations are requested but tickets can be purchased at the event; tickets are $20.

LOWER LAKE, Calif. – Last September everyone in Lake County was shocked and stricken by the now-notorious Valley fire.

Since the Redbud Audubon Society program was scheduled for barely a week after that event, the group canceled the program.

Fortunately, speaker Gordon Beebe agreed to reschedule and the group is very pleased to welcome him on Thursday, April 21, to present: “Exploring the Colombian Southwest Andes and Intermountain Valleys.”

Beebe is president of the Madrone Audubon Society, in neighboring Sonoma County, and the group looks forward to his program.

Torrent ducks, cock-of-the-rock and more are shown in photos, video, and audio recordings, all seamlessly integrated into the presentation.

Experience the visual beauty and unique songs and calls of the birds of the varied habitats of southwest Colombia, from the valleys, cloud forest, freshwater lagoon and rivers, to the páramo, high in the Andes.

Watch the antics of a black-billed mountain toucan as it feeds in the cloud forest; see five species of antpittas up close at Río Blanco Preserve, hear the unusual song of the Jet Antbird at Sonso Lagoon, and delight in the Buffy Helmetcrest, a hummingbird of the Páramo.
