How to resolve AdBlock issue? LUCERNE, Calif. – The Time Bank of Thrive Lake County will get together for education and socializing on Saturday, June 20.
The event will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Lucerne Alpine Senior Center, 3985 Country Club Drive.
Everybody is welcome. If you're not a time bank member yet, come on down and find out about time banking and meet those who are already benefiting from this complimentary currency of time. If you are a time bank member, meet other time bank members and find others you can get and give services to.
Time bank members can earn “hOurs” for attending this meeting in the following ways: two hOurs for attending the full Meet Up, one hOur for each potential member brought, one hOur for bringing a potluck dish that serves eight.
Time bankers exchange time instead of money for services.
Membership is open to any Lake County resident, business or organization.
You can also drop by the time bank office at 307 N. Main St., Lakeport. It's open Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – Officials at the Lake County Fair announced the winners of the third annual Lake County Spring Fair Classic Car Show.
The People’s Choice favorite was a 1970 Pontiac Firebird locally owned by John Mathies Jr. from Clearlake Oaks.
A multi-award winner for best paint, best convertible and ladies choice was a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro owned by Jenifer Campbell of Lakeport.
Lake County Spring Fair guests were given the honor of judging over 50 classic cars and trucks; multiple vintage trailers created their own Trailer Town.
“Fair guests had a tough time picking their favorite” said Lake County Fair Chief Executive Officer Debbie Strickler.
All 12 awards were made from recycled bowling pins donated by Charlie Richardson and creatively designed through the efforts of Gary Milhaupt and Lee Campbell.
Other awards and winners were:
– Best Hot Rod: 1927 Ford T Roadster Pickup owned by Brian and Heidi Vincent of Lakeport.
– Best Vintage Trailer: 1960s Aristocrat Lil Loafer owned by Donn and Donna Marschall of Kelseyville.
– Best Engine and Best Interior: 1955 Chevrolet 210 Pro Street car owned by David Lakatos of Kelseyville.
– Best Make Out Vehicle: 1956 Chevy Sedan Delivery owned by John and Denise Alderman of Kelseyville.
– Best Truck: 1940 Ford Pickup owned by Bill Sauer of Kelseyville.
– Best Tear Drop Trailer: Self-built by George Elliot of Clearlake.
– Best Oldie But Goodie: 1939 Chevrolet Coup owned by Rick and Carol Maneros.
LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Green Party of Lake County will meet on Sunday, June 21.
The meeting will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. at Round Table Pizza, 821 11th St. in Lakeport.
The group has invited John Stoddard, a candidate for the Board of Supervisors seat representing District 5, to speak.
Steven Greenberg from Hidden Valley Lake will discuss issues facing the south county.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – Branch 168 of Sons In Retirement held its monthly meeting at the TNT's Restaurant in Lakeport on June 12.
Golf Chairman Jim Cary announced that the annual summer tournament would be held in Reno on June 16 through 18.
The Little SIR, Frank West, reported that many members have volunteered to help with various activities at the annual picnic, to be held on Oct. 9.
The only thing remaining on West’s wish list is for a few volunteers to help with the set up around 10 a.m. on the day of the picnic.
West also announced that he had arranged for Michael Petry of Chase Investments to be the guest speaker at the next luncheon on July 10.
Larry Powers, the membership chairman, reported that the group's current membership is 92. Powers also introduced the newest member, Randy Whitt. Welcome, Randy!
Meanwhile SIR Branch 133’s next luncheon meeting is scheduled for June 19 in the Greenview Room at Hidden Valley Lake. The guest speakers will be from Cal Fire and the Lake County Probation Department. The board meets at 10:30 a.m. and the doors to the Greenview room open at 11 a.m. with the lunch served at noon.
The branch is holding a golf swap meet on June 26. Members can bring their old clubs and exchange them. Anyone who would like to donate clubs should know that all donated items will go to the Junior Golf League at Hidden Halley Lake.
Sons In Retirement is a social organization for men of retirement age who are pursuing the goal of enjoying their later years. It has 142 branches with 18,000 members throughout the state.
Branch 168 holds a luncheon on the second Friday of each month at the TNT Restaurant in Lakeport.
Branch 133 holds its luncheons on the third Friday of the month in the Greenview Room at Hidden Valley Lake.

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – The Lake County Historical Society (LCHS) will hold its June barbecue meeting from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 21, at the Ely Stage Stop & Country Museum.
The museum is located at 9921 State Highway 281 (Soda Bay Road) in Kelseyville.
Being that the meeting falls on Father’s Day, the LCHS welcomes and honors all dads, granddads and great-granddads.
The highlight of the meeting will be the dedication of a plaque honoring Randy Ridgel, whose drive and vision helped bring about the Ely Stage Stop & Country Museum.
Ridgel served as LCHS president for about eight and a half years and left a significant legacy of service to the society.
Patrick Ridgel will talk about the San Francisco cable car that is on display at the Ely Stage Stop Museum.
The cable car lived at the Lake County Fairgrounds for many years and now makes its home at the Ely.
The LCHS will supply hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, plates, utensils, napkins, bottled water and soft drinks. Please bring a dish to share. If your dish needs to be cold keep it on ice.
There is no charge for LCHS members; admission for guests is $5 at the door. If guests join the LCHS at the barbecue, the $5 will apply to their memberships.
The Ely Stage Stop is on Highway 281 about 1 mile north of the traffic signal at the Kit’s Corner intersection of Highway 29 and Highway 281. Watch for the Ely sign beside the road.

NORTH COAST, Calif. – The Anderson Valley Foodshed and KZYX will present the sixth annual Not-So-Simple Living Fair July 24 to 26 at the Mendocino County Fairgrounds in Boonville.
The event will feature three days of rural living skills education, and back-t-the-land demonstrations.
This is a family event featuring wholesome local food, socially conscious vendors, dancing out under the stars and much more.
The weekend features a wide variety of workshops, including alternative energy, beekeeping, dairy culturing, natural building and fermentation.
Friday night starts out with the Gypsy Campout Cabaret. Local talent performs fireside. Please bring an instrument, story, or talent to share.
Saturday night's celebration begins with “the world's best potluck,” followed by music with Joe Craven and MamaJoWali.
Sunday's keynote speech will be given by Starhawk.
