LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Lake County Public Service Director Caroline Chavez announced that the Eastlake Landfill and the Lakeport Public Services office will be closed Monday, Feb. 16, in observance of the Presidents Day holiday.

Residential pickup will be on the regularly scheduled day.

Both facilities will reopen on Tuesday, Feb. 17.                     

Normal operating hours at the landfill are 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.

The Public Services office is normally open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The 2015 California Northwest Red Cross Real Hero Award recipients will be selected next week by a committee of local community leaders based on the degree to which their acts of heroism uphold the values of the American Red Cross and leave a lasting and positive impact on the residents of Lake, Mendocino, Napa and Sonoma counties.

The annual Red Cross California Northwest Real Heroes Breakfast recognizes acts of heroism by local residents and pays tribute to those who have performed lifesaving deeds while supporting the lifesaving programs and emergency services provided by your local Red Cross Chapter.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – The oversight board for the former Lakeport Redevelopment Agency will hold a meeting on Friday, Feb. 6.

The board will meet at 10 a.m. in the council chambers at Lakeport City Hall, 225 Park St.

Agenda items include approval of the minutes from the Sept. 26 meeting, and approval of the administrative budget for the Lakeport Redevelopment Successor Agency for the fiscal year 2015-16

Also on the agenda, the board will approve the recognized obligation payment schedule covering the period July 1, 2015, through Dec. 31, 2015, and adopt the associated resolution.

HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE, Calif. – At the Monday, March 9, meeting of the Hidden Valley Lake Garden Club, there will be a presentation by Gabriele O’Neill, a Master Gardener and member of the UC Cooperative Extension Lake County Master Gardeners. 

She will talk about the UC Master Gardener Program and how it differs from a garden club. 

O'Neill also will share her experience of growing mostly vegetables, fruit trees and some drought tolerant ornamentals, while also encouraging the many precious natives in her area.

Meetings of the Hidden Valley Lake Garden Club are free and open to the public on the second Monday of each month.

They are held in the Activities Room of the Administration Building of the HVL Association, 18174 Hidden Valley Road.

A social gathering with refreshments begins at 9:30 a.m., followed by a business meeting and program at 10 a.m.

LOWER LAKE, Calif. – The Lake County Diamonds All-Star Cheerleaders will hold a fundraiser pizza feed on Wednesday, March 11.

The all-you-can-eat dinner will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. at DJ's Pizza, 16135 Main St. in Lower Lake.

Tickets are $8 per person and can be purchased at the door.

CLEARLAKE, Calif. – The Clearlake Redevelopment Oversight Board scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 5, has been canceled.

The next regularly scheduled meeting will take place in early March.
