LUCERNE, Calif. – The Lucerne Alpine Senior Center will host a fun Western Band Potluck from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 18.

The third Wednesday of every month marks this regular fundraiser and music event.  

The High Notes band is featured and will get your toe tapping. This is a chance to hear one of Lake County’s most experienced talent.  

This potluck fundraiser has a $12 admission. Bring something wonderful to share.  

All proceeds from the meal benefit the Lucerne Alpine Senior Center, a not-for-profit that serves north shore senior populations with on site lunches, Meals on Wheels and advocacy.

COBB, Calif. – Wondering what time banking is?

Time banking communities have formed around the world. Members connect in practical ways – people helping people – and get necessary services by using time as a currency, exchanging time instead of cash. Every hour is valued the same, regardless of the service performed.

Time banking forms connections that strengthen a community and its local economy. The Time Bank of Thrive Lake County began over three years ago, and has grown to over 400 members.

So how do you “spend” your time? Come find out.

This month's Time Bank gathering is Saturday, June 14, from 5 to 7 p.m., hosted by the Artisan Realm, 16365 Highway 175, Cobb. All ages are welcome.

The gathering starts with a potluck from 5 to 7 p.m. The agenda provides the opportunity to connect in practical ways, get started in time banking, and meet fellow time bankers who you can exchange with.

You can earn “time credits in the following ways: two hours of credit for attending the full meet up, one hour credit for each potential member you bring, one hour credit for bringing a potluck dish that serves eight.

Drumming starts at 7 p.m. There is the option to stay into the evening for socialization and good times at the Artisan Realm's regular drumming circle, which is held on alternate Saturdays.

Time Bank membership is open to any Lake County resident, business or organization.

You also can drop by one of two Time Bank offices.

The North Lake office is located at 307 N. Main St., Lakeport and is open Tuesdays to Fridays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The South Lake office for Time Bank is located in the NCO Community Action Agency office at 14832 Lakeshore Drive, Clearlake and is open Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – The 2014 commencement ceremony for the Kelseyville High School Class of 2014 will include a fireworks display at the end of the celebration, which takes place on Friday, June 13.

The fireworks display will take place at or about 9:20 p.m. at the Kelseyville High School Football Field.  

This activity has been a tradition since 2000.

The actual display will take place over a five-minute time period but residents are advised to take the necessary precautions with pets that might be sensitive to the noise.

Kelseyville High School has worked with local law enforcement and fire agencies and has taken the necessary steps to ensure a safe and enjoyable event for all.

This event has been paid for through the fundraising efforts of the Class of 2014. 

LAKEPORT, Calif. – Join People Services Inc. in celebrating 40 years of success.

The organization will hold its major annual fundraiser, the Chicken-Que, on Saturday, June 7.

It will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Lake County Fairgrounds, 401 Martin St. in Lakeport.

People Services will celebrate its 40th birthday and invites the community to join the party.

Eat birthday cake, listen to great entertainment from the LC Diamonds, stroll through the silent auction for great buys on great treasures and enjoy a barbecued chicken dinner for only $7 per person or $25 for four tickets.

They also will offer veggie burgers, hamburgers, hot dogs and more.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – Lake County Tribal Health will host the “To Honor One Is To Honor All” event on Thursday, June 5.

It will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. at Legacy Court, 1950 Parallel Drive in Lakeport.

An honoring ceremony for this year’s graduates will be conducted. Dinner will be provided.

This event was started in 2012 to promote education in the native community by honoring all native junior high, high school, GED, adult education and college graduates living in Lake County.  

In addition, this year they will celebrate the LCTHC Parent-Child Development Center’s "preschool" graduates and the LCTHC job skills class graduates.  

Every year, native college graduates are invited to the event to share their inspirational stories of how they were able to pursue and complete their education.  

This year Mickela Jones of the Little River Band of Pomo Indians will be the keynote speaker.

Jones has a bachelor's degree in ethics and applied law and a master's degree in school counseling. He currently serves as principal for a tribal school in Sacramento.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – Flotilla 88 recently was honored by the Board of Supervisors.

During the Board of Supervisors' meeting on Tuesday, May 13, Supervisor Jim Comstock read a proclamation honoring the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary's 75th anniversary and observing National Safe Boating Week, which took place May 17 to 23.
