LAKEPORT, Calif. – Lakeport Library’s Friday morning story time will start its third summer in Library Park on June 6.

At 10:15 a.m. every Friday through Aug. 29, except for July 4, Barbara Green will read stories in the park.

Story time meets near the playground equipment at Park and First streets and is free to children of all ages.

From September through May the Friday morning story time takes place in Lakeport Library at 1425 N. High St.

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – The Clear Lake Road Riders and Twin Pine Casino will host the 12th Annual Bob Reese Memorial Run on Sunday, May 18.

Registration is from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Hillside Honda in Lakeport.

The $20 entry fee will include a poker hand, delicious lunch and $10 free play at Twin Pine Casino.

Motorcycle riders are invited to participate enjoying a tour around the lake and through the Cobb Mountain area with numerous stops on the route to stretch your legs.  

At the end of the ride, participants will enjoy a delicious lunch, drawings for prizes and music provided by DADZ a classic rock-n-roll band from San Francisco.

Individuals not riding are welcome to join the post ride festivities and support the cause with lunch and music starting at 12:30 p.m. at Twin Pine Casino. The cost is $20 at the door.

All proceeds from this event go to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, a charitable nonprofit organization dedicated to finding the cause and cure of childhood brain tumors as well as aiding in the early detection and treatment of childhood brain tumors.

The Clear Lake Road Riders is one of several motorcycle clubs in California and the United States that help raise funds for the foundation through the Ride for Kids program.

“While the event is fun for all, what is most powerful knowing that clubs all over California are doing contributing to help children who have brain cancer,” said Club President Dave Stein. “Cancer is a heartbreaking disease and even more devastating when children are the victims.”

Bob Reese, a respected Lakeport community leader, was an active member of the Clear Lake Road Riders organization and passionately supported the club's fundraising activities for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.

The Clear Lake Road Riders is a nonprofit membership organization that promotes motorcycle safety, organizes group rides and financially supports community organizations and projects such as Lake Family Resource Center, local senior centers and scholarships for graduating seniors attending Lake County High Schools.

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – The Rotary Club of Kelseyville Sunshine contributed labor to the Kelseyville Business Association to complete two of its Main Street projects.  

A crew of Rotary members drilled holes along Main Street near Kelseyville High School to complete the Avenue of Flags project that will provide American flags along the length of the downtown thoroughfare.

The flags will be flown during festivals and on holidays.
 
A small crew of Rotary members painted rocking chairs and benches that will be placed along Main Street to provide seating for residents and visitors.  

The chairs and benches are painted to match the red color of the light poles.

CLEARLAKE OAKS, Calif. – The fourth annual Frank Toney Memorial Motorcycle Run will take place on Sunday, May 25.

It will take place beginning at 9 a.m. at 10551 E. Highway 20 in Clearlake Oaks. Kickstands go up at 11 a.m.

The poker run will travel around Clear Lake. All motorcycles are welcome, and cars are invited to follow.

The entry fees go toward the Firefighters Crisis Club.

The event is sponsored by the Fire Syndicate Motorcycle Club.

CLEARLAKE, Calif. – A caregiver support group for families dealing with memory loss or other cognitive impairments will meet on Wednesday, May 14.

The group meets at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 14310 Memory Lane in Clearlake from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Social worker Jenny Johnson is the facilitator.

The groups are sponsored by Redwood Caregiver Resource Center (1-800-834-1636) and the Social Day Programs in Lake County.
