CLEARLAKE, Calif. – The Clearlake Youth Center is seeking volunteers to help with the roof at the center beginning at 9 a.m. this Saturday, Oct. 12.

They need six to eight people who are able to help scrap the gravel off the roof and help roll out the snow roof.

CLEARLAKE, Calif. – Come be a part of an international effort to collect water samples from around the world.

The local sampling will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 12, at Austin Park playground, 14077 Lakeshore Drive, Clearlake.

They will use World Water Challenge sampling kits and test pH, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, temperature and Secchi disk readings.

There also will be water sampling and discussion about the results.

The data will be recorded and submitted to the international database.

The event will be led by KPFZ’s “The Water Hour,” which takes place from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. the first Friday of every month.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – Star Chapter 442 will be participating in the Clearlake Road Riders Annual Christmas Charity Fun Run on Saturday, Oct 12.

Bring an unwrapped toy and meet them at 9 a.m. at Hillside Honda-Yamaha, 460 S. Main St. in Lakeport.

The cost is $20 per person and includes entry, fun and games, and lunch at Robinson Rancheria.

CLEARLAKE, Calif. – A caregiver support group for families dealing with memory loss or other cognitive impairments will meet on Wednesday, Oct. 9.

The group meets at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 14310 Memory Lane in Clearlake from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Social worker Jenny Johnson is the facilitator.

The groups are sponsored by Redwood Caregiver Resource Center (1-800-834-1636) and the Social Day Programs in Lake County.

LUCERNE, Calif. – Lucerne Community Church will host a safe trunk or treat party on Halloween evening – Thursday, Oct. 31 – from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the church parking lot.

They will provide free hot chocolate and face painting in addition to handing out treats.

Everyone is welcome to join in a safe Halloween celebration.
