Kitchen Gallery hosts June 26 knife skills class

LAKEPORT – The Kitchen Gallery is happy to present its first knife skills demo classes on Saturday, June 26, at 301 N. Main St., Lakeport.


Three classes are being offered throughout the day for your convenience starting at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.


The cost is $20 per person and includes the use of knives to practice with, a free cutting board provided that you can take home, and a store gift card in the amount of $15 that can be used on the day of the event.


Class overview is as follows: safety, workplace, body position, general technique, chef’s knife use, learn how to julienne, brunoise and mince, as well as use of Santoku knife and maintenance for all your knives.


Classes will be taught by Joel Kauffman, California, Nevada and Hawaii territory manager for Zwilling JA Henckels Corp.


Sign up now as space is limited to 12 people per class.

KPFZ plans election night coverage

LAKE COUNTY – KPFZ 88.1 FM will be broadcasting live election results after 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 8.


Herb Gura, Andy Weiss and other programmers will announce results as they come in and broadcast clips from recorded candidate debates.


Candidates have been invited to speak from the studio in Lakeport and as results come in, reporters will be calling in or broadcasting live from campaign and election headquarters.

ABATE changes meeting days, venue

THE TIME OF THE MEETINGS HAS BEEN CHANGED.


LAKEPORT – Local 28 Lake County Chapter of the American Brotherhood Aimed Towards Education (ABATE) has changed its meeting day and location.


As of Thursday, June 10, Local 28 will begin meeting on the second Thursday of each month at the home of Lori Adams, 105 S. Starr, in Lakeport at 6 p.m.


Adams is hosting all members and prospective members with a barbecue at this meeting. She has plenty of parking available, but please RSVP to her at 707-245-8036 so they know how many to expect for the barbecue.


The group currently is working out the details for the third annual ABATE Northern California Regional Rally, which will be held July 16 and 17 at Kelly's Kamp in Upper Lake. Local 28 will be helped this year by locals from Chico and Vacaville.


This event is open to all motorcycle riders. There will be music on Friday and Saturday nights, bike games, explorer's ride, horseshoes plus vendors on site. Saturday will feature a barbecue in the afternoon.


Remember Local 28 meetings are open to all motorcycle riders, join in and make some new friends to ride with in this great area.
