KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – Taylor Observatory hosted two Astronomy camps this past July.

Participants experienced the Science of Astronomy in a fun environment.

The July 11-13 Junior Astronomy Camp (grades fourth through sixth) explored the solar system and made miniature models of all the planets.

The July 18-20 Astronomy Camp (grades seventh through 12th) focused on the tools of the astronomer.

They studied the spectrum and created their own spectroscope. They learned how spectroscopy is used to determine what the planets, stars and nebulae are made of.

Optics were examined while building a Galileo Telescope.

Both camps ended on Friday night where participants and families experienced a Planetarium show and telescope viewing of the night sky.
