Carl

Spring break is here! As always we have a mix of excitement for having a break, but at the same time we are not looking forward to leaving the Carlé family.

In celebration of spring, the Student Council organized a “Spring Fling” for our last day of school before break. There were sports such as softball and frisbee, a water balloon battle, a slip and slide, as well as egg hunting. We feel that the students deserve this fun day and it was suggested, designed and implemented by our student council.

The T-shirt contest that was started last grading period is now ended. All those who entered won T-shirts with their own Carlé related design. These students were Alex Meek, Steven Vezeau, Jamila Parker, Debbie Powell and Paige Salvante. These students can now use their designs to represent Carlé High School anywhere they wear these shirts.

Soon we will be starting a music project during our lunch hour, where students can use the school's equipment to learn and write music together. Bryan Lane, a junior here at Carlé, has been put in charge of running this music project.

It is a great thing how musical talent seems to manifest itself so much at this school. I don't want to mention any names (Bryan), but there are rumors that a few people have met with a tricky salesman at the crossroads for such talent. When yearbooks are distributed, they will include a CD of the music produced by our students.

There are two students of the week to announce. Last week's student of the week was Alex Meek. Alex has helped an enormous amount with directing our daily bulletin, as well as the creation of our updated

website, and he is also a very kind and pleasant person.

This week's student of the week is Travis Conine. Travis is said to be the Renaissance man of Carlé. He is in charge a community service opportunity for our students at a monthly dinner, he runs a film crew for our media class, he is an intelligent student, and has a lovable personality. Congratulations to both

students for their remarkable achievements at this school.

An upcoming activity that we will be hosting soon, will be a basketball tournament. The team that wins the student tournament will be able to go head to head against the dreaded team of teachers (queue dramatic music).

The competition is going to be an intense one. The teachers can be intimidating out on the court, but we students have our youthful energy and pride on our side. In order to preserve my journalistic neutrality, I will refrain from making any biased predictions on who will win the final game (but the teachers don't

stand a chance).

Well that is all for this week's Carlé Chronicle! Have a great spring break!

Atlee Erickson is a junior at Carlé High School.
