Higher Education Week puts spotlight on college

LAKE COUNTY – The Lake County Office of Education's College-Going Initiative will host Higher Education Week activities on Monday and Tuesday.

The events are for parents and students from the upper elementary grades through high school.

High school workshops – which will have a with special focus on high school juniors – will take place on Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Lower Lake High, 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Middletown High.

On Tuesday, high school workshops will be held from 8:15 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Kelseyville High and from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Clear Lake High.

The daytime workshops will open with a large group presentation, followed by smaller, more individualized workshops for juniors. The workshops provide time for students to inquire about specific institutions, the application process, financial aide, and any other questions they may have.

After this, parents and students can visit with a variety of college representatives and ask detailed questions about planning for college, the college application process, financial aide and any other questions they may have. If parents/students are unable to attend the evening event at their local high school, they are welcome to attend an event at another high school.

The evening workshops will be held on Monday from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Lower Lake High School and at Middletown High School from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The Tuesday evening workshops will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Clear Lake High School and from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Upper Lake High School.
