LAKEPORT – The Lakeport Unified School District has a new tool to help protect children.

Recently, the district received a Preliminary Alcohol Screening (PAS) device, or breathalyzer, from the Lakeport Police Officers' Association.

Lakeport Police Officers' Association President Officer Norm Taylor presented the device to district Superintendent Erin Smith-Hagberg.

This presentation resulted from an increase in requests from the school for a response by an officer with a device. Lakeport Police no longer has a school resource officer assigned to the campus.
