LAKE COUNTY – The theme for the 2009 Summer Reading Program is “Be Creative @ Your Library” and they will explore the worlds of music, dance, art, books and more.

All four of the Lake County Library branches will participate in the Summer Reading Program.

Lakeport Library will launch the Summer Reading Program on Saturday, June 13, with a “Super Saturday Sign-up.”

Barbara Green will organize a number of activities from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for that day, including several crafts projects. If you like, bring a T-shirt to color with fabric markers. Children from preschool through eighth grade can sign up to read library books and earn prizes.

The Summer Reading Program at Lakeport will end on Aug. 8, and on Aug. 22 they will have an ice cream party and present the reading awards.

Visit Lakeport Library and see the ice cream cones on the windows in the children’s room grow as the children read throughout the summer.

With a library card, patrons have access to the collections of all three counties, amounting to more than one million books. From the library’s online catalog http://ipac.sonoma.lib.ca.us/ipac20/ipac.jsp?profile=laco#focus or from an in-library catalog computer, a patron can request books from anywhere in the system and have them delivered to any library branch.

Contact your local branch for more information.
