MARYSVILLE, Calif. – The Yuba Community College District (YCCD) Board of Trustees held a special meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 23, to review the draft chancellor profile.
The draft profile was developed via input from open campus forums in Marysville, Woodland and Clearlake with faculty, staff, student and community involvement.
The 15-member representative search committee convened to review the compilation of input received, had discussion, and produced the draft profile which was presented to the board at its meeting.
Development of the chancellor profile is only the first step in what will be a five month or longer process to identify the next Chancellor for the Yuba Community College District.
The profile describes the qualities and characteristics sought in the next district chancellor and the challenges and opportunities that leader will face in the coming years.
Further input is continuing to be solicited from anyone wishing to provide such.
The draft profile can be viewed at the YCCD Chancellor Search Web site, www.yccd.edu/chancellorsearch.
Additional information on the search process, including the time line, progress reports, etc. can also be found on the same chancellor search Web site.
Should you wish to make any suggestions for the profile, please email them directly to Julie Golder Alion from the American Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) at
The YCCD Board of Trustees will adopt a final profile at their regularly scheduled board meeting at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 2. Interested community members can provide comments on the profile at that time as well.
The Yuba Community College District spans eight counties and nearly 4,200 square miles of territory in rural, north-central California. It has colleges in Marysville and Woodland, an educational center in Clearlake, outreach operations at Beale Air Force Base and in Williams, and will be adding an outreach facility in Sutter County as part of the Measure J facilities bond. More than 40 people participated in the workshop including chief business officers, board members and superintendents from across the county.
Lake County Superintendent of Schools Wally Holbrook, organized the event along with Director of Business Services Michelle Buell.
“The County Office of Education is committed to supporting our districts in meaningful ways,” said Holbrook. “Offering this type of support around issues that are of common interest to our districts is one way we can do that. We hope to offer more of these opportunities in the future.”
The workshop was presented by Joel Montero of the Fiscal Crisis and Management Assistance Team, which was created in 1991 through Assembly Bill 1200, to serve local educational agencies by providing fiscal crisis intervention and management assistance and coordinate statewide professional development efforts for school business officials.
“It’s no secret that California’s budget crisis is impacting schools across the state,” said Holbrook. “Our goal is to support our school districts in their commitment to fiscal responsibility, thereby ensuring quality educational environments for all Lake County students.”
