LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — Firefighters had two fast-moving wildland fires on their hands Friday, but by day’s end both incidents were coming under control.
The first incident, the Peter fire, was dispatched shortly after noon in the 9500 block of Adobe Creek Road at Peterson Lane in Kelseyville.
The fire quickly led to an evacuation order and several evacuation warnings in the immediate area.
Cal Fire said Friday evening that the fire had burned 47 acres and was 50% contained. By that point, the evacuation order had been reduced to a warning and the other warnings lifted.
The resources assigned to the fire included three helicopters, 15 engines, six dozers, five water tenders and two crews, Cal Fire said.
As firefighters were making progress on the Peter fire, another incident began near Lakeport.
The Scott fire was reported at 4:41 p.m. near Scotts Creek Road and Scotts Creek.
The fire led to a brief evacuation order in the immediate vicinity.
Cal Fire said the fire burned 19 acres and was 50% contained by evening.
The causes of both incidents remain under investigation, Cal Fire said.
