On April 24 our principal, Mr. Strahl, will take students who have 100-percent attendance out to lunch to The Spot in Clearlake.

Also on April 15 Carlé had two portfolios: Alyssa Goepfert and Aneesa Lopez. These two have been some of hardest working students at our school this year who have kept their eyes truly focused on the prize of graduation. They have both achieved this dream. Carlé would like to congratulate them.
On April 10 the whole school of Carlé took a trip to Santa Rosa Junior College to look at the campus and see what classes the college has to offer.
Dustin Wilson, Jason Arson and Faith Wilson all had this to say, “They have a beautiful campus with lots of trees.”
“Everyone had a great time, a few students are even going to take a few courses,” said Mr. Strahl.
On April 15, the student government held a meeting and discussed prom and new lunchtime activities.

CLEARLAKE, Calif. – The Clear Lake Campus of Yuba College will celebrate Earth Day 2015 on Wednesday, April 22.
The Earth Day event at the Clear Lake Campus will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., offering booths, entertainment, and resources to educate and inform the community on environmental, ecological and educational issues related to Earth Day.
“I am excited to bring our community together around this day,” said student organizer Danielle Stennet. “A Cree Indian Proverb inspired me, ‘Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.’”
The US government Web site says, “Earth Day is a time to celebrate gains we have made and create new visions to accelerate environmental progress. Earth Day is a time to unite around new actions. Earth Day and every day is a time to act to protect our planet.”
“I am excited to invite our community to celebrate Earth Day and focus on our environment,” said Associated Student Body President Ruby Tu.
Live music will be performed during the event by a full and varied line up of talented students as well as instructors Doug and Sissa Harris.
The award-winning culinary program will sell lunch and provide information and tours of the “green restaurant.” There will be a full menu available inside the restaurant as well as a take-out menu outdoors.
Activities involving baking with solar ovens, free raffle drawings and flower planting will take place.
Information booths include Lake County Sierra Club, Lake County Land Trust, Jonas Energy Solutions, Anderson Marsh, Solar City, Vector Control, Konocti Trails, Environmental Protection Agency, C & S Waste Solutions, Lake County Co-op, Master Gardeners and more.

LUCERNE, Calif. – Following the success of its inaugural college scholarship program last fall, California Water Service is now accepting applications for the 2015-16 academic year for students in its service areas.
Scholarships totaling up to $60,000 are available to eligible students in areas served by Cal Water, along with the California Water Service Group subsidiaries Hawaii Water Service Co. and Washington Water Service Co.
Two top scholarships of $10,000 each will be awarded to students who demonstrate financial need, with one scholarship based on academic achievement and the other based on community service.
Other scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 will also be awarded to students, depending on financial need, academic achievement and community involvement.
The scholarship program, which is being funded by the California Water Service Group’s shareholders, not ratepayers, will be administered by Scholarship Management Services, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
To be eligible for a scholarship, students or their parents must live in a Cal Water service area, plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college or vocational-technical school, and not already possess a degree or diploma from an accredited two- or four-year college or vocational-technical school.
“Our commitment to our customers goes beyond the tap,” said Cal Water District Manager Gay Guidotti. “We are also committed to improving the quality of life in the communities we serve.”
Students interested in learning more about the scholarship program or applying should visit www.calwater.com/community/scholarship .
The deadline to apply for this scholarship period is June 1, 2015.
Cal Water serves about 3,000 people through 1,200 service connections in Lucerne. The company has provided water service in the area since 1999.
