LAKE COUNTY – U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Lake County Flotilla 88 has been awarded a community grant from the Clearlake WalMart store.

The grant will be used for a “Children’s Lifejacket Project.”

This will be the sixth year Walmart has supported the Lifejacket Project.

On Saturday, May 15, starting at 10 a.m., children 12 and under and up to 90 pounds accompanied by a parent or guardian will be fitted and all will be educated in the proper use and care of the lifejacket. Lifejackets are free and supplies are limited.

Flotilla 88 has once again invited their public safety partners from Cal Fire and the California Highway Patrol.

Cal Fire will have information on family and home fire safety and CHP will set up a courtesy child car seat safety check booth.
