HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE, Calif. – Starting the holidays by sharing both fitness and food, the Lake County Milers running club invites all runners and walkers to its eighth annual Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25, at 9 a.m., in Hidden Valley Lake.
Nonperishable food items will be collected and donated to Lake Family Resource Center.
The free, family-oriented event is open to all Lake County residents, friends and relatives.
The event begins at the Hardester’s Market shopping center (take Hartmann Road exit off Highway 29, about four miles north of Middletown) and includes a noncompetitive two-mile walk or a three-mile jog.
All participants must sign a waiver, with adults signing a waiver for youth under 18.
The Milers will provide hot beverages, juices, pastries and fruit.
“Don’t miss this chance to get a little exercise and some socializing with family and friends before settling in for the traditional Thanksgiving feast,” said Milers President Jeanine Burnett.
The Turkey Trot also gives participants an opportunity to donate nonperishable food items, which will be distributed to needy families by Lake Family Resource Center.
Entrants who bring donated food items will be entered in a holiday raffle drawing held directly after the trot.
The raffle items are donated by Hardester’s Markets, the Lake County Milers and other local businesses.
