HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE, Calif. – The HVL Men's Niners Golf Club held a better ball team (two-man) competition on June 9.

The results were:

• First flight – The team of Joe Whitbeck/Bill Helt finished on top with net 29. Juergen Haller/Dennis Bero were second at 30 and Bob Chestnut/Bill Perry third with 31.

• Second flight – The teams of Frank West/Paul Bertlin and Olie Smith/Bob Costello tied for first also with 29. Jim Stratton/Jerry Tamura and Mike Higman/Lee Willard tied for third at 30.

• Third flight – The team of Gary Pickrell/Mill Garrett scored the lowest team net of the day, 25. Ed Carver/Doug Carter was second at 27. The father-son team Jim Hodges/Jay Hodges was third with 28.

Closest to the par 3 pins were Phil Tyler and Bob Chestnut.

Chip-ins were scored by Bob Brossier, Bill Stricklan and Ron Clark.

Sixty men – 30 teams – participated in this event.
