Men's Niners Golf Club reports on recent competitons

HIDDEN VALLEY LAKE, Calif. – The HVL Men's Niners Golf Club held two recent low net competitions on June 23 and June 30.


On June 23, the results were:


  • First flight – Fred Figg was first with net 31, Dennis Bero was second with 32 and Cliff Hughes third with 34.

  • Second flight: Bill Surber finished first at 31 and Ron Clark second, 32; Mike Casolo, Juergen Haller, and Paul Bertlin tied for third with 33.

  • Third flight – Mike Higman posted one of the lowest nets of the day, 30; Brian Rudy was second with 31; and Jim Hodges was third at 33.

  • Fourth flight – Phil Tyler posted the other net 30, Brian Panizzera was second with 31 and Russ Sage was third at 32.


Closest to the par 3 pins were Byron Hoss and Brian Panizzera.


Chip-ins were scored by Bob Brossier, Dick Kistner, Ron Martinez, Phil Tyler and Bill Surber.


Fifty-six men took part in the June 23 event.


On June 30, the results were as follows:


  • First flight – Tom Gibbs took first place with a low net 34; Rick Conrad, Cliff Hughes and Arch Madsen tied for second at net 35.

  • Second flight – Bill Brewster was first with 34; Carl Dennis and Jim Brown tied for second at 35.

  • Third flight – Phil Tyler and Tommy Sowell tied for top honors at 34; Jeff Markham was third with 35.


Closest to the par 3 pins were Mike Riley and Tom Gibbs.


Chip-ins were scored by Brian Panizzera, Mike Higman, Bill Surber and Gary Faulkner.


Fifty-one men took part in the day's competition.
