KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – Brad Barnwell will lead a bird walk at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1, in the park at 5300 Soda Bay Road, Kelseyville.
Meet Barnwell at the Visitor Center parking lot. There is no entrance fee to the park for participating in walks.
“The lake level is nearing the point where we might be able to get out on the gravel bars and mud flats to see shorebirds, pelicans, herons, egrets, terns, ducks and geese,” Barnwell said. “People should dress for the weather, bring binoculars, and wear sturdy footwear they don't mind getting a little muddy or wet.”
Barnwell leads many bird walks throughout the area and is noted for his skill in bird identification and capturing birds on camera. He readily shares his knowledge with those who walk with him.
This will undoubtedly be an exciting walk as unusual fall migrants can show at any moment. Bald eagles have also been known to stop at the gravel bar.
