
LAKEPORT, Calif. – Race fans were treated to an exciting weekend of racing at Lakeport Speedway for the 16th Annual Bomber Bash where the bombers this year ran Twin Bully Dog 50 Lap Mains.
With more than 30 cars showing up for the bash, it saw the main event starting 23 cars after some cars suffered mechanical problem throughout the weekend events.
Local driver Andrew Snider won the first leg of the main event along with the $1,000 Bully Dog certificate and the second main event was taken after a very good race by out of town veteran driver Erick Ray.
All the drivers put on a very good show throughout the night of great racing and great sportsmanship with over $ 5,000 in cash in prizes on the line.
The Coors Light Modifieds saw the conclusion of their final point race during this nights event and after having a long hard run at the championship with both veteran drivers and rookies chasing him all season it was Kelseyville’s own Sean Sweeney taking home the championship for the Coors Light Modifieds for the 2011 racing season.
The 2011 Rookie of the year in the Modifieds Charlie Collins brought home the second place in the points followed by veteran driver Aaron Hick of Grass Valley.
The Modifieds will make their next appearance at the October Classic.
In other racing action at the speedway 2011 Jr. Jammer champion took home the honors and fast time win the Jammer race over the weekend and first time race winner in the Mini Stock division went to Jim Underwood of Ukiah ca. driving in the ride of the 2011 Points Champion Sean Keown.
The Legends of the Pacific made an appearance this weekend at the speedway and returning driver Luis Tyrell made it three in a row for the 2011 racing season at Lakeport Speedway.
The next event will be the 2011 KXBX October Classic Oct. 14-16, with full racing events on both days with a special fireworks show on Oct. 15 along with a destruction derby and the next boat race will be during our show on Oct. 29.
