Cowbell Enduro scheduled for Nov. 3

UPPER LAKE – District Ranger Lee Johnson announced that the Upper Lake District of the Mendocino National Forest will host the annual Cow Bell Enduro on Nov. 3, beginning at Middle Creek Campground.

The Forest expects from 200 to 250 dirt bike riders to participate in the event. It is anticipated that Middle Creek Campground will be full to capacity beginning on the morning of Friday, Nov. 2, through Saturday evening. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. at Middle Creek campground and the race will last until 7 p.m.

Those riders not participating in the event need to be aware that 100 miles of the district's designated off-highway vehicle trail system will be used for the event from Middle Creek to Streeter Ridge in the North.

Visitors to the forest during this time need to be aware of riders crossing and riding on forest roads. The roads to be used are where trail # 10 crosses M-1 at the Elk Mountain summit, Lower Deer Valley Road (16N20), Bear Creek Road (M-10) where trail #16 crosses, Elk Mountain Road (M-1) where trail #43 crosses and ties into trail #35 and the Penny Pines Elk Mountain Road intersection. Please be extra careful in these areas.
