LAKEPORT, Calif. – The action returned this last weekend at Lakeport Speedway with the Rental Solution Mini Stocks taking to the track for their championship night.
The win went to Mike Peterson Jr. of Ukiah and the new track record going to James Stillman of Upper Lake, along with his first championship in the Rental Solution Mini Stocks.
The tightest point battle for the night was in the Pro Jammer division where there was only two points separating Wayne Young who was the leader going into the night and Scott Strugnell.
At the start of the main the point gap was closed to one so during the main it was whoever finished ahead of the other that was going to be crowned the champion.
The two battled back and forth for that position and it came down to a last run out of turn No. 4, where the two were side by side at the finish line with the championship going to Strugnell who made the pass by only a couple feet.
The Jr. Jammer championship went to Jason Hunter with the main event win going to Roy Ingalls Jr. In legend action it was Luis Tyrell that took the main event in the Legends of Pacific race.
The action was the most intense in the Extreme Asphalt Outlaw division where it saw early race contact between Sean Sweeney and Mike Sullivan, with Sullivan sending Sweeney spinning coming out of turn number two.
Upon the restart it saw points leader Kyle Tellstrom and race leader at the time start at the front of the field and resume his lead of the race.
With Sweeney and Sullivan starting in the rear the crowd had its eye on the two because the action was sure to continue.
The two battled side by side for many laps when coming again out of turn number two contact between Sweeney and Sullivan happened again, this time it was Sullivan sideways down the back straightaway with Sweeney in his door.
Upon cleanup of the incident Sweeney retired to the pits, with Sullivan making a trip again to the back of the lineup.
It was Tellstrom who went on to win the race and continue to increase his points lead, with the final action packed race set to take place during the KXBX October Classic on Saturday, Oct. 13, and Sunday, Oct. 14.
The racing action continues this weekend for the Danny Rose Memorial Perpetual race at the Delberts Memorial Raceway on Saturday, Oct. 6.
