NORTHERN CALIFORNIA – The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) announced that Knoxville Wildlife Area reopened on Sunday, Aug. 9.
Because of successful efforts by fire personnel from multiple agencies on the Rocky Fire, CDFW considers conditions to be safe for public access.
The public is reminded that campfires are not allowed on the wildlife area at any time.
Because of the Rocky fire in neighboring Lake County, Knoxville Wildlife Area was closed to all public use on Aug. 3.
The general deer season opener began today, and Knoxville is a popular hunting area.
The public can monitor the status of the Rocky Fire at www.fire.ca.gov/general/firemaps.php .
